June 9th - Brûlances Workshop

The second edition of Festival Brûlances is happening this year from June 5 to 9, at the Centre culturel Georges-Vanier, and we will be presenting a workshop!

When? Sunday, June 9th, 2024, from 1PM to 3PM
Where? Centre culturel Georges-Vanier (2450 rue Workman, Montréal), in the big room ("grande salle")

As part of the Nous Ne Serons Pas Sages campaign, we'd like to invite you to a round-table discussion where we can pool our rage for action and encourage each other to keep up the fight! All contributions are welcome. Come along on Sunday June 9, from 1.30pm to 3pm, in the main hall of the CCGV.

1. First, we'll take a moment to demystify the "Comité des sages" (the context that led to its creation and the current state of its activities) and other transphobic policies. Then, we'll present the activist campaign opposing them. So, the workshop is for everyone, whether you're involved in queer activism or not. It's also a good time to learn more about the Nous Ne Serons Pas Sages campaign, or to get involved!

2. In a second phase, anyone wishing to do so will be able to share their thoughts on possible future actions. In this way, we hope to open up a space for discussion, where links can be forged that can be of use in the ongoing struggle. It will be possible to speak or write.

We remind you that Brûlances requires indoor activities to be masked for accessibility reasons. Masks will be available on site. However, you will be allowed to hydrate during the workshop. Unfortunately, LSQ translation will not be available, but there will be whispered translation (French to English) if required. For the discussion part, please feel free to intervene in the language of your choice. The space is wheelchair accessible, and there are elevators in the building. You can contact nous@pas-sages.info for accessibility needs.

No need to sign up, show up in numbers!

We also invite you to take part in the other workshops of the Brûlances festival, a very very nice event!

About Brûlances :

Brûlances is a radical queer festival created last year by members of the P!nk bloc in a try to revamp Radical Queer Semaine. Bringing together activists from different backgrounds, the festival is created as a space for sharing, exploring, politicizing and transforming.

🔥In a fascist context, where Islamophobic, racist, transphobic and queerphobic discourses are on the rise -
🔥In a context where capitalism is also trying to reappropriate our colors -
🔥In a context where governments are instrumentalizing our identities and experiences to justify genocide in Palestine
🔥In a context of flaming anger, but also of a desire to create bridges and spaces for discussion. We want to bring together 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to continue building our liberation, in a revolutionary perspective, resolutely: feminist, anti-capitalist, decolonial, anti-racist and anti-fascist.
🔥We want to bring the generations together: angry baby trans, ketamine faggot, political old lesbian, transmasc fuckboy, gay dad, bi-es in heat, butch builder, transsexual materialist, puppy enarvé etc. We want to bring the generations together.
